Entering its 43rd season, with Conductor and Artistic Director Gerard Morris, the Tacoma Concert Band enjoys a sterling regional, national, and international reputation. With over 60 musicians, this award-winning band brings to life a variety of music, from classical to pop, traditional to modern. While the band has delighted audiences from Ireland to Vienna, Budapest to Madrid and the French Riviera, nowhere does the music sound better than at home in Tacoma.
The mission of Tacoma Concert Band is to provide the Puget Sound community with a professional quality wind ensemble; to offer a high-quality performance opportunity to local wind and percussion musicians; to support and encourage the region’s school band programs; and to affirm the need for community concert bands within the American music scene.
Since 2018, Maestro Gerard Morris has served as conductor and artistic director of the esteemed Tacoma Concert Band. Morris’s conducting credits include appearances at The Midwest Clinic, Colorado Music Festival at Chautauqua, Steamboat Strings Music in the Mountains Summer Music Festival, College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Western/Northwestern Divisional Conference, Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) State Conference, and California Music Educators Association (CMEA) Bay Section Conference, and with honor ensembles across the United States and abroad.
